The sea food of Alibaug is very famous. Pomphret is one of them from the deep sea of Alibaug. Large Pomphret are usually pan-fried to enjoy the taste. Pomphret are fried using Alibaugu2019s specially made spices which has its unique taste.

Fresh Pomphret caught from the sea should be sliced and cleaned. Put a mixture of turmeric, spices, asafoetida, salt to the Pomphret pieces and keep it for some time. Then extract the wet tamarind juice and add to it. Add finely chopped coriander and grated coconut. All this mixture should be kept for some time so that the Pomphret get marinated. Then put oil in a pan and add garlic and pieces of Pomphret in it. Then let it steam. After a while, gently turn all the pieces. Savory fried Pomphret are ready to enjoy.
